Re: Sterbai spinning uncontrollably and ragged fins

the good news is all the others seem fine, so atm i suspect that only the 2 where effected. it seems like it was a brain issue perhaps as the juvi affected had a lump between the eyes. picture to follow

Re: Sterbai spinning uncontrollably and ragged fins

The fish posted above sadly died the same day I was going to cull it. I took a slime sample from the fish and put under the scope, also scoped the actual fish and took gill scrape best I could. Haven't found any external parasites of any kind. I think it was perhaps from when I had them with discus ...

Re: Sterbai spinning uncontrollably and ragged fins

I suspect it's something parasitic causing it. What's the best broad range parasitic treatment for corys?

Re: Sterbai spinning uncontrollably and ragged fins

Thanks for the reply. Yes I've read all I can find on here, doesn't seem to be a remedy.

I've made the decision to cull the fish worse affected.

Very strange tho, other than the little 30second episodes it behaves relatively normal.

(I will cull using clove oil to euthanase humanly) purely to put ...

Sterbai spinning uncontrollably and ragged fins

Hello, for a good while now I've been having issue with my sterbai, basically ever now and then I've noticed one fish in particular but also one or two others will spin very fast uncontrollably, then fall to bottom of the tank on its side. Then returns to normal. (Behaviour wise)

This one fish in ...

Hi jamesleagas,

They really look nice, and clearly they are gaining weight. :-BD I'm inferring that these three photos are of the same two fish, yes? Compared to your first photos, I can see the thicker bodies in both fish, and I do see some visual difference in the snouts of the two fish ...

What's peoples opinions now, these two clearly imo have different shapes (one has fuller body and shorter snout)

They look very different now they have settled and eating well

Chameleon whiptails male and female?????

Hi recently I aquired 4 young chameleon whiptails, I post pics of them regarding sex but took better pics today one is much fuller in the body than the other and curious for more opinions as to possible sex

They look a bit grey in the pic, when settled in the tank the contrast between black and ...

thats a very good point, i had my corys in the tank before when it was bare and they behaved very odd, swimming up the corners of the tank constantly

Re: I love corys, but....which ones?

wilds can be kept just the same as domestics. I've seen this done by friends loads, all the main discus suppliers in uk that import wilds keep them in the same tanks as domestics on the same systems, bare tanks with hi stocks etc

and imo all discus can be pretty skittish when tanks have low stock ...

Re: I love corys, but....which ones?

the main thing with your tank is its very understocked with discus, u need 8 discus minimum imo for them to behave naturally, wild discus are completely fine in bare tanks providing they have a big enough group (same with domestic)

this is my roma 240 which has very good stock and as u can see the ...

If it helps I Dnt suspect that my fish are in tip top condition as the Lfs would not of been feeding them correctly if they are like most Lfs

Probably lived on occasional prima feedings for the last 6-8 weeks that they've been there.
