The link below shows the image of the Albino Black Lancer. The photo the website is using is the same one that appears in the book I mentioned earlier.

Re: Black Lancer catfish captive breed?!!
The book is in Korean. The Korean title is 세계 담수어 2900. It is a translation of a Japanese book with the English title The Picture Book of Aquarium Fish and Water Plants 2700. The Korean version added 200 domestic fish, plants, and aquatic inverts. The ISBN number on the inside of my book is 978-89-96 ...

Re: Black Lancer catfish captive breed?!!
A recent book purchase I made (World Fresh Water Fish-- Pisces Publishers Co.) shows an image of an albino Black Lancer --even giving the fish a separate entry in the book. Someone must be breeding them, but I would guess they are being produced on fish farms in outdoor ponds.

Re: Liobagrus Andersoni Project?
I have kept them and other Liobagrus species. High oxygen content and good water flow are key. Plants are unimportant put a number of large stones and a fairly deep bed of fine gravel are needed. The fish excavate their own burrows under large rocks and are not interested in pre-made caves or pipes ...

Re: This time ABNs definitely have spawned:)
I guess I was lucky. My ABN spawned for the first time about two weeks ago. They are in my unheated community tank -- the day temp is about 72-75F from the room temperature and the lights in the tank. I was mildly interested but have other, non-catfish, breeding projects going on so I did not make ...

Re: New Liobagrus
I found an image and video of the new fish here: http://blog.naver.com/PostView.nhn?blogId=aksl2001&logNo=220449191876 Translated, the Korean reads: This is a new form of torrent catfish from the Hyeongsan River. It was dubbed "Eastern Torrent Catfish" in an academic journal.... It differs from ...

Re: Weather Loaches
The Paradise Fish I keep are Macropodus ocellatus -- the Round-tailed Paradise Fish. They are nowhere near as agressive as Macropodus opercularis and I have mixed them with a lot of other species of fish. At one point, I had to temporarily house a few in my community tank. In the short time that ...

Re: Weather Loaches
I have kept them in the past with Paradise Fish and Bitterlings but I wound up moving the loaches out of that tank and kept them in with wild-caught Goldfish instead. They get to0 large-- my largest female was about 20cm and swim too actively (and clumsily) for small, slower moving fishes. I don't ...

Re: Coolwater
I have to disagree with the previous poster who recommended that you not keep native fishes. I have almost always kept native fish no matter where I have lived. In fact, the sheepshead minnow ( Cyprinodon variegatus variegatus )was the first egg-layer I bred as a kid in New England and I will never ...

Re: Paroon Shark
Unfortunately, I do not think these fish, no matter how small they currently are, will be happy in a 25 gallon aquarium. They need lots of swimming space even when young. Paroon sharks grow huge in a short period of time and will quickly outgrow the tank. Even the 'short-bodied' variety grows to 50cm.

Re: Odd characin thread
Arnoldichthys spilopterus is easily my favorite characin! The first time I saw them was in the late 80s. There were three mixed in a tank of Scissortail Rasboras (Rasbora trilineata)and the staff at the fish shop had no idea what they were. I bought the trio for six dollars. They lived for nearly ...

Re: Which pleco to pick?
I know you said that you were not interested in having live plants right now, but I think it might be worth getting some Hornwort (Ceratophyllyum submersum). It would solve two of your problems. First, it would block a lot of the light and take up nutrients the alga is using to grow. Second, it ...
