As per my experience, nearly all plecos are sensitive to copper. If the copper level in a tank of fresh water is around 0.10mg/L, plecos will immediately perform strange and look stressed; if the copper level is higher than 0.2mg/L, some plecos will get dead in 24 hours especially Ancistrus typed ...

This was really the case as Janne described. Now the pleco is recovering in a hospital tank where the water in it is fresh water, no additives.

Hi Patrick, unlike the other loricariids, H. Zebra is more of a carnivore than an algae eater. They like meaty food. Say, blood worm and brine shrimps. For more information, please refer to the following web site:

Hi, Zebra are great plecos. I also have two, one is male, one is female. As known, the digestion systems of plecos cannot tolerate meat typed food well, so I only feed them with high fiber composed food such as TetraMin or Hikari Algae Wafer. They seem very happy and healthy with these!!!!

I have used both Hikari and JBL. I found my plecos like both, but Hikari is more stable in water. I recommend Hikari :D

I got one bottle of Waterlife Protozin. As per its instruction sheet, it recommends to adminstrate the dosage to half for scaleless fishes. So should I administrate the dosage to half for plecos???
