Decorus in a streaming tank
Hello! I can get a group of 5 S. decorus for my west african streaming tank (200 x 40 x 50, about 9000 l/h turnover). But since I read in internet, that they come from slow-flowing river parts I'm not sure anymore if that will work. Does anyone has an advice? Also, can I introduce S. brichardi to ...

Re: Trachyglanis/Belonoglanis any experiences ?
I sent an email to Utaka - all Trachyglanis are already reserved . At least I preordered Nannaethiops, Sicydium and the last decorus. They are waiting for a new shipment in December, so there is still a hope.

@november: that are bad news. They did have some more cool species on the list. So we have to hope, that at least Trachyglanis arrive.

Re: Trachyglanis/Belonoglanis any experiences ?
Phractura would be also very interesting, but 70€/ 400-600€ for a group are really too much :(. Successfully bred as early as the 1950s by Försch. Breeding report is summarized in Baensch, Vol. 3, and pictures of eggs and fry are reproduced in Burgess' Atlas. Never heard about it. Do they care about ...

Re: Trachyglanis/Belonoglanis any experiences ?
@november: there must be some delay then, I had an information, that the westie-import incoming on the 2.11. Do you know, if they sell direct after the arrival, without acclimatizing the fish?
PS: I think, I have more informations I ever dreamed of now.

Re: Trachyglanis/Belonoglanis any experiences ?
Thank you for the comprehensive answers! So I will keep them alone at first (steel, I don't know the prices, I hope they won't be to expensieve). What water conditions do they need? (pH, dH)
Birger: How many do you keep? Can you tell something about interactions between them (aggression)?

Re: Atopochylus cf. pachychilus
I have some problems distinguishing the both genus Atopochilus and Euchilichtys. Are there some clear superficial differences between them? The fish was identified by the seller, so no 100% warranty.

Atopochilus cf. pachychilus ?
I got this little cutie together with some Chiloglanis sp. It must be about 5-6cm long, it does not really like bloodworms, frozen Artemia or Tabs I give to the other african suckers and it keeps the front glass clean. Never seen it attacking Chiloglanis or the other way around.

Re: Chiloglanis spec are not eating
Do you have sand in your tank? I had the same problem keeping them in a tank with the sand and low current. They were very aggressive to each other and ate nothing, they looked disgusted by the sand ;). Then, I transfered the Chilos to a tank with gravel and a very strong current (25-30x of tank ...

Seems really to be the same species! I'm a little bit curious under which name they were sold to you. Atopochilus too? :d I checked all 48 Chiloglanis spp. on fishbase and Chiloglanis lukugae do match the best for me (max. size <9cm, occurs in the Kasai River, also see the picture http://fishbase ...

@rommer: pellegrinii is one of three "real" Ctenopoma species and most closely related to South African genus Sandelia. They look very elongated. Not a beauty, but a very lively, fast and curious fish for tanks with good water flow. I like them very much!

african suckermouth ID
I got these five guys as Atopochilus cf. pachychilus with the only one real Atopochilus, so I suppose they could be from the same location as Atopo: Kasai R./Kanda Kanda R. They are looking like some kind Chiloglanis, but which one... I can't see gender differences (all females?) and the biggest one ...

Re: Hello from Germany!
Hello Rommer, nice to see another WA-Freak :d . Synodontis and L59a are in 720l with Cichlids. IMG_0031.jpg Chiloglanis are living together with the african gobies Parasycidium bandama, as they all need a very strong current (at least 20-25x of tank volume). Have to make a new pic. My other africans ...

Hello,
this guys have to be 14-15 years old now. They are about 20cm and quite aggressive toward each other. I suppose them to be hybrids but I'm not really sure.

Hello from Germany!
Hello! I'm from Germany and a "West Africa-Freak" (not only cichlids). Actually never focused on cats, but some months ago got some Chiloglanis and found them very interesting! Cats I'm keeping now: 3 Synodontis sp. (probably hybrids, about 15 years old), 5 Microsynodontis sp. Malebo Pool, 4 L59a ...
