Re: From my in box
I made a very big boo-boo once by placing an aggressive cichlid with some alibino sterbai. They had their eyes pecked out too... After the incident they fish had grown flesh over their sockets and it look like the sockets were never there. I believe the feelers are their saving grace. They forage ...

Re: 2. International L-numbers Days in Hannover (Germany)
As of now we have three from the Singapore contingent. We were the furthest now its NZ! It was a pity Janne couldn't make the first one but I look forward to listening to his work at the source. It's critical now that we're clear what's going to happen in the Amazonas basin. Imagine all ...

Re: Pseudacanthicus species from Peru
Another trip?!!! *envy* Do send my regards to Jørn. I sent him an email and I think it dropped into a black hole... hehe Have you seen the fish posted in L-Welse? ---> here It's also from Peru and don't think it's the same as L452. The spotting seems more like wormlines and colour is more intense. ...

Re: Pink L25?
I have some variant that look like the fish you posted. There is also a similar looking fish in Ingo Seidel's L-Numbers book. In there he has captions that mentioned these variants are from the Rio Iriri. I got my specimens in the same import as what I think are the Sao Felix variant. Another point ...

Re: Pseudacanthicus sp. L024 ID Please
It looks like L024 to me, Rio Tocantins. I understand the Tucuri variant doesn't or has minimal spotting on the body. One quick way to discern L024 from L025 is the lack of spotting on the "face". This method is not fool proof as you can see in my example pictures below. You can see your fish has ...

Re: Thoughts about using the Hamburg Mattenfilter (HMF)
Farid, Your first two pictures have just solved my issue with the HMF! Many thanks for sharing your setup. I had wondered how to support the side of the filter mat. I notice you do not have a clearence at the bottom of the air lift. Any particular reason why you don't leave a clearence of ...

Re: L46 and the Belo Monte dam
Maybe we can get back to the more specific topic of the L46 and the consequence of the dam? Janne, Much regret that you were not able to speak during the recent L-Numbers Day. It would have been very interesting to hear of your project. Hans Evers did tantalize us with some photos and a brief of ...

Re: L46 and the Belo Monte dam
Always appreciate your direct information from Brazil!
Am I correct to understand that the "dam" is actually a series of 5 dams along the Rio Xingu?
With the series of dams starting from Belo Monte to (unknown to me)?

Very sad for your loss...
I recall admiring the fry at the L-Numbers Day vividly.
At least some of the progeny have spread to another country. *winks at haavard*

I've been lurking in the shadows too long!
Hello to all PC members! I've been lurking in the shadows too long! Especially since I've meet some nice PC folks at the recent L-numbers Day. :D It's nice to know there are other "pleconitis" sufferers in other parts of the world. hehe I'm an rather recent sufferer (since August 2006) and have been ...
