Yes I tried the water flowing over the eggs in a seperate tank. I have a feeling the male isn't fertilising properly, which is not uncommon for fish starting to spawn for the first time. Fish laid again all over the tank. Removed the eggs and am hatching in another tank with water flowing over them ...

Second spawn fungused.

Third spawn was not only laid on the lid, but also all over the tank floor. Removed them all bar the male. Eggs on lid disappeared overnight and the rest fungused a few days later.

Have now put a single female in with the male.

My last spawn I left in the tank, but the majority of the 30-40 eggs disappeared overnight. I moved the lid to another tank but they fungused after a couple of days. They spawned again yesterday and I immediately removed the lid to another tank and darkened the tank with a towel to see if this helps ...
