Hi Kana3, Thanks for the reply, you were the only one, probably my post was too long to read through. I vacuumed the sand before relocation by sucking the sand half way up the tube and pinching the tube to slow down the current, that takes bad water from the sand. The reason for the problems were ...

One detail I forgot to include in my post above: euthanized cory trilineatus had rapid breathing, red gills and yellow sides (belly area). But it was more white then remaining two, so maybe yellow belly was just showing more. I did not change cleaning habbits. I did lower temp by 2 deg from 80 to 78 ...

Things are bad, cory dying!
I have a mature 29 g tank running disease free for over a year. One day about 3 weeks ago I wanted to change a type of fish in that tank, so I sold a pair of egg laying angels and bought 6 small rainbowfish. And few days later my problems began. First noticed rainbows had long clear poo. I had them ...

Thanks, Looks like all I was doing was stressing the fish with the changes of the tank temp. I set it on 76 and just wait than. I have no problem spawning bilineatus I bought some weeks ago. As soon as they went into 29g planted, eggs were everywhere, to the enjoyment of neons. I took some out, the ...

Trying to breed c. trilineatus...
...in the 10g planted with sand substrate. How often can I lower water temperature by 5 to 6 deg. F replacing 25% of water with fresh de-chlorinated cold water without stressing the fish? Current temp is 78 deg F, lowered to 73. I feed twice a day. Should I wait with lowering water temperature till ...

Siamese Algae Eater
Can a single True Siamese Algae Eater (Crossochilus Siamensis) co-exist peacefully with a family of Otos in my 55g as per signature or should I have 2 SAE to have them chase each other and leave all the other fish alone. I have no experience with SAE and I would like the opinion of people who have ...

I went to the store and saw sterbai for $15/each (less than 20 mm juvenile). All of a sudden a assorted corys looked far more appealing. So I bought 6 for a total of $15 (15-20 mm juveniles) The best I can tell (and I looked at all the pictures in the cat-e log, they are c. bilineatus. I am planning ...

not sure if I can mix corys...
Would corydoras sterbai spawn with corydoras trilineatus if kept together in planted tank, temp 78 deg F? I am planning to add 6 sterbai to the tank and do not want to mix spawning. Thanks

There is no way of knowing that the reason is the same, but I lost all cory Juliis that did roll the tail to the side. Than they were motionless for most of the day and eventually lost balance and died. I lost 6 out of 10, the remaining 4 are healthy. I could not pin point the problem, it looked ...

I had similar problem, but nowhere near as severe. How big is your gravel? Do you vacuum from the bottom of the gravel? Just sink you vacuum in the gravel and see if puffs of goo and uneaten food will be vacuumed out. If it is, than this is what your corys swim in. They smell food and suck water ...

Well, although the weakest one did not make it, the rest of corys are not flashing any more and happily search for food all the time. I did take the weakest one to LFS and they looked at him, the opinion was gill parasite, gills were pink instead of red. They did not have microscope there to look ...

Cory julii - just keep dying
10 weeks ago I bought 3 cory julii to my community 29g tank 2 weeks later: one cory started scratching his body on the sand, fins clamped and most of the time motionless on the bottom. I separated that one in 10g qt and treated for parasites with malachite green. Completed treatment no change, fish ...

Thanks guys, This is than what I am going to do, Yesterday I did not see the scratching any more, which might be too much fertilizer in the first place, but it might not. If this is due to gill parasites, they are already in the sand and will infect other fish, therefore I will need to nuke ...

Thanks for the responses. I did not know about such a problem with malachite. Presently there is no medications in qt, but I will change water (also I can not measure any ammonia nor natrite. I will keep an eye on her for a couple of more days and if there is nothing wrong I will put it back to 55g ...

Hello All, I am new to this forum, however I have been reading it for a while. I need your advice. I have emerald brochis in my 55g tank. Tank was treated for ich with nox ich (malachite green) and with raised temp to 87 F. Some 2 weeks into treatment (ich kept showing up) one of my emeralds lost ...
