not sure if I can mix corys...
Would corydoras sterbai spawn with corydoras trilineatus if kept together in planted tank, temp 78 deg F? I am planning to add 6 sterbai to the tank and do not want to mix spawning. Thanks
55 gal planted tank, very fine gravel
2 angels (pair),4 emerald catfish, 9 otos,1 cory sterbai, 3 clown loach 3 hatchets
temp 80 F, kh6 gh6 ph 7.8, CO2 yeast, amonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5

I went to the store and saw sterbai for $15/each (less than 20 mm juvenile).
All of a sudden a assorted corys looked far more appealing.
So I bought 6 for a total of $15 (15-20 mm juveniles)
The best I can tell (and I looked at all the pictures in the cat-e log, they are c. bilineatus. I am planning to place them with trilineatus in 29g planted. Do you thing they might cross breed? Why would sterbai be so expensive? They are from the same region (South America) as trilineatus ($4).

You should not have a problem with C. trilineatus crossing with C. bilineatus.
For some reason C. sterbai have always commanded a good price, that fact that they are relatively easy to breed would normally bring the price down, but it hasn't. C sterbai are a good investment for any would be Cory breeder. Until you turn up at your LFS with a bag full of fry that is, then the story often changes somewhat. But thats a debate that I will not get into here.

Corydoras panda and Corydoras davidsandsi are probably the worst offenders, especially with other tan bodied species like C. adolfoi and C. melini. Although having said that I have kept all four species together with no crosses ever occurring. If both sexes are present in all the species the chances are lessened.

I have 6 cories in my tank now - 2 Pandas, 2 Duplicareus, and 2 Sterbais. The Duplics and Sterbai's I just bought - and they were all huge compared to my Pandas Ive had for about 6 months.
I just bought them this weekand the Sterbai are a little over 4 cm. I paid the equiv of 7 USD for each - but if the exchange rate was what it used tio be, they would have been like 4 USD each.
I posted pics of them for confirmation that they were reallly Sterbai...and Im told they are...
I wonder why they were so inexpensive....they were the same price as my duplics.....
