feet are good, gallons are better
I have to say I am somewhat confused by your post. How many gallons is a 2 fter, 4fter, and 8 fter? I've got a 3 foot 50 gallon and a 3 foot 30 gallon. When you say Malawis are you talking catfish only, or a malawi cichlid tank with cats?

Crazy Callicthy
Those Calichthus cats win my vote for craziest cat fish. I used to hold tubifex in my hand and those guys would push there way into my fist in order to get the worms, suffice to sat they are not hand shy.

Rhineloricaria
I have a Rhineloricaria which looks very similar to your fish. I have never seen mine bury himself, I don't know if that information will help but...good luck! Please post what you find out if you find out the full species.

Good questions
It sounds like you are wiliing to take care of these little guys, which is awesome. Sometimes when people find out there's work involved with keeping fish they kind drift away. I would peck the guyd in your local fish stores brains, except in petco/smart (those corporations do not require any ...

5 gallon tanks
Seriously, I think there are very few fish who will live well in a 5 gllon tank, Betas are probably the best. The problem is the volume of water, in a large tank there is more room for error in water conditions. It is really hard to keep a small tank stable over the long run. Cats are probably going ...

LFS' n Plecs
I agree with Scott definitely ask a fish guy (who works there) at your LFS if there's a market for large Plecos. I worked at a store here and they will still take and sell large Plecos, Oscars, Tinfoils...etc, however they will not buy them. They realized that people were actually making money ...

Plecos and 55gals
I think that a 55 is too small for the fish that is sold as "Plecostamus" in most stores. To get a good Pleco for a 55 I'd definitely look at the more specialty (read: expensive) Plecos, or other related fish like Loricaridae and Hemiloricaria. The whiptail cats are cool looking and do very well in ...

How wet?
Thanks for the reply! If I could bug you with some more questions... I actually discovered the nest during a water change when I had the driftwood out of the tank. I will keep it wet as I do the transfer, is it possible that I've already done damage? Should I remove the male as soon as the fry hatch ...

Hemiloricaria Sp (L010a) -- Possibly Breeding
Okay, I'm new to the forum. I bought two of these about 4 months ago. I arbitrarily decided that the large one was male and the small one was female (which is probably opposite.) However, now the large one is guarding eggs. I think they've bred! :D (or these are snail eggs) If they are his eggs ...

Is this species South American?
I have two Red Lizard Cats, I think they are South Americans. They are L010a, Hemiloricaria Sp.. Does anyone know anything about the breeding of these guys? I have eggs and one of them is guarding them.
