Skunk Cory

Hey all I'm looking for info on some cory's we bought listed as Skunk Cories. They are all light colored with two long black tripes on them. One on each side that run high on the body the length of the fish. The LFS here did not have a scientific name for them. We bought five and lost one pretty ...

I have two females and bought a male last week. I put him in the tank and he disappeared into a cave within 30 seconds. A week later I got curious and looked for him and he was guarding a clutch of eggs already. Not even a week. I checked again last night but the clutch didn't make it. oh well guess ...

If you have guppies and want fry you need to have coverage for them. The parents eat the young if they can get them. I have my 20 planted with java moss, no fertilizer since I don't think its good for the young fry. Its planted pretty heavy, I also have some bronze cories and a couple mollies in ...

Ok I made it to auction and brought home some new kids. I ended up with some young mbunas. Some baby tri spot gouramis, plants, plants, plants, and a 20L. We also got some baby angels and bushynoses but they didn't make it. Too much stress. I tried but couldn't save them. It was a lot of fun. Theres ...

My living room is slowly turning into a fishroom.

I went to a fish auction on Saturday and picked up another tank. A 20L this time. I also snatched up some cichlids, baby gouramis, and plants. We purchased some angels and bushnoses too but only one bushy made it and all the angels died. (Minnesota is below frigid right now and they got too cold at ...

Hi,
Did your gibby always have the holes or did they just show up? One of my gibbis had some rips in his dorsal and they have now healed. I just let him be and it grew back in about a month and a half from when I noticed it.

fish auction

I heard about an auction going on this weekend in the Minneapolis area. I guess they are selling fish and all sorts of fish related supplies. Anyone wanting more info can check out the minnesota aquarium societies page. I'd put in a link but I don't have it offhand. Minnesota is a cool place in ...

white-spotted gibbiceps

I picked up a new kid at my LFS this week. He/she was labeled as a "white-spotted gibbiceps". The new kid looks like my other sailfins except for the color pattern which instead of having giraffe markings like my two regular sailfins he has whitish spots. I tried looking it up in the catelog but ...

I also raise guppies. I do it to trade off for cool plecs. Thats how I got my two sailfins and a bushynose along with a bunch of gouramis. Your going to need a higher ratio of females to males, I'd say at least three females for every male. The reason being that guppy males are randy little buggers ...

Thanks. I'm thinking of just adding on a sponge filter for the time being to their temporary home. "Mom" is back in with her friends the Honey Gourami Colony. "Pop" is guarding the younguns. I'll keep from adding in a plec. I don't want to disturb them, when they get bigger I'll make changes.

Hey all, I'm going to need to set up a new tank in another week or so. Most likely a ten or twenty gallon. I usually just go for it and through it all together but this time I have a purpose behind it. My betta female wass getting pretty chunky after my male died so I bought her a new boytoy ...

My all time favorite is my sailfin. He has a ton of personality and looks great. I have about five other varieties too but they just are kinda boriing, they hide and don't do much. Salty the sailfin goes charging across the tank fins a flailing away chasing goldfish and giving me "the eye".
