5 KW generator, gassed up and ready to go. Will run my tanks, 2 refrigerators and furnace blower no problem. Had it for years before i got into keeping fish.

Radiator hose clamps might be a little overkill, but that's what I would use. Don't tighten them down too tight on plastic, it may crack. Paint 'em green to match and you should be good to go.

My 2 common pl*cos do this, but I have never seen my smaller hypostimus gulp air.

That's where the problem starts. This tank was running at my Dad's apartment for about 2 years. He had to go into a nursing home, and someone had to take in his tank and fish.
