what will happen if you do not add salt with these fish will they get acclimated to it or is there something that will make them get sick or die. i have all freshwater fish, 2 shovelnose cats, pictus cat, rafeal cat, and a large pleco

my s. lima is about 10 or 11 inches long, i had a friend that had one about 18 inches. as long as they have ample room so they are not stressed they will grow. he wont look at the elephant nose as food as long as he cant put him in his mouth, that is the general rule with the shovelnoses, if it fits ...

my experience with them says you might want to get him a partner. they enjoy swimming together. as for the swimming up and down the back, that was very common with mine as well. i think they try to find a current to swim in, mine always swam around my waterfall filters.

also do you have any info on the pseudoplatystoma tigrinum that does not have the pseudo fasciatum in the description

in the cat e log it has pictures of both in the description

i was wondering about salt in the tank. I have a lima shovelnose, pseudoplatystoma tigrinum, cigar shark, a breed of the pictus, a pleco and a columbian shark i know that columbians need brackish water, what i was wondering is will the salt kill the other fish or do i need to get another tank for ...

is the ten gallon an established tank or is it new
if it is established then i would go with 25 to 50 percent water changes for a week

not sure of the exact species but they are a common feeder fish over here along with golds.
my lima is about 10 or 11 inches now and will eat golds with the best of them.

everything i have read on them, there has not been any sexing on them

i use a product nox-ich by weco products, this has worked good for me, i can no longer use it though because of my shovelnose cats, it seems to burn them, so watch that close no matter what you use, also think about a water change i have both irridescent and an albino irridescent and they swim ...

it still shows a picture of what i thought was the fasciatum wich is the one with more of a tiger pattern than the mostly black one with a horizontal stripe in with the same pics

was wondering if any of you know more info on pseudoplatystoma tigrinum, i have both the pseudoplatystoma fasciatum and the tigrinum, every site i find though gives you info on the fasciatum. i know them as tiger shovelnose catfish and tiger shovelnose i know the fasciatum can get around 50" or so ...

i have a few fish that do that, it usually is a way of letting me know the water is not right, usually if i do a water change then it goes away
