Re: Need urgent advice - common

we moved the tank many months ago tbh, actually thinking about it probably closer to a year ago if I'm honest :?

I check the water in there fairly reguarly (we've got the little test tube water testing kit)
just done the test again this exact minute, these are the exact results:

PH: 6.4
Amm: 0 ...

Re: Need urgent advice - common

I have to say what concerns me is why he's thrashing around the tank like that in the first place tbh, he's always been fairly skittish and shy as (I assume) he was bullied in the tank he came from originally by another CP he was housed with, but just lately he's gotten very much more skittish ...

Need urgent advice - common

I have a common (Pterygoplichthys pardalis) pleco, 'he's now approx 12-13" long from tip to tip, and he's currently living in a 400l 4' tank with a few tiny inmates - he is king of the tank, and has plenty of bogwood and plants to hide in.
What's worrying me is just recently he's started pummelling ...

L201 digging - I'm concerned

I hope I've posted this in the right section.

I've got a baby L201 and a baby L204 sharing a tank at the moment; 90l, sand/gravel/laterire mix substrate, live plants, two large pieces of bogwood, tank temp: 25*C, they are the only fish in this tank

Both Pl*cs seem to get on very well and often ...

Re: I was told the other was a L14, now I'm not so sure

Spot sort of does have a whitish underside if this makes a difference or helps at all.

I've just taken another photo of him (not wonderful as he's snoozing under the bogwood, but he was in a good position for the camera so i thought I'd risk it):

Re: I was told the other was a L14, now I'm not so sure

Yeah that's what I thought, unfortunately it's really not easy to get a good photo of him, but if it helps he's spotty like that all over, no fringing colour on his dorsal / tail or anything at all.
Both pl*cs are still babies, L204 is just 2" long and the other is 3" long, so I'd estimate them ...

I was told the other was a L14, now I'm not so sure

(Theyre in a fairly big tank dont worry, this was just a off chance shot this morning, taken on my phone of them sharing the same area on the same piece of bogwood)

The stripey fellow I know already is a Flash / L204 pl*c, it ...

can a common share?

I have a common (Pterygoplichthys pardalis), unsure of his age but is approx 7+inches long. I recently added what I was told was a baby L14 (Sunshine/ Goldie), this is only 4months old and is still very very small, he was purchased as he was in a pets@home, and I felt there were far too many chavvy ...

Re: What type is he? (common? sailfin?)

sorry for the long delay in getting back, he's not overly keen on the camera and usually hides as soon as I spot hes in the position and grab the camera

Re: What type is he? (common? sailfin?)

I've been properly looking at the photos you've linked and some others online and he certainly looks like a Pterygoplichthys pardalis (is that a common?), but I'll still certainly get some photos up as soon as I do manage to capture an image of his underside.
As mentioned on the OP, I don't know how ...

draft copy?

I meant to reply to the topic I started late last night 'what type is he? (common or sailfin), but I accidently hit the save button rather than the submit button - it told me the message had been saved to my 'drafts' folder but i dont know where this is, or how to access it. Apologies

Re: What type is he? (common? sailfin?)

Plecky is not often up on the glass where I can get a good picture but I will certainly try for you, and get a photo up as soon as possible. If a description helps at all: he's got a very pale underbelly with the same patternation as the rest of him, he also has a small fin just after his belly ...

Here's another view (though this pic has come out very orange)

The glass rock isn't in there anymore btw as I was paranoid about him hurting himself on it so I've changed it for lots of bogwood

What type is he? (common? sailfin?)

I posted this pic over on another website and a question on there has actually got me wondering; and I have been advised you guys are the ideal people to ask - I really hope you don't mind.
This little chap is known to me effectionately as Plecky, he's an adoptee I had to rescue from another tank ...
