Sorry to go off topic but here is a link to Cups article being hosted elsewhere http://plecoplanet.com/?page_id=571 it's good to hear you have this site sorted should the ...

Re: 52cm? P. Pardalis
I'd really like a proper id on this fella guys. I don't believe him to be a gibbi but also looking through all the pics of pardalis I have doubt. Is it possible that he is an adult p.multiradiatus? http://www.planetcatfish.com/images/half/loricariidae/pterygoplichthys/multiradiatus/1.jpg The ...

lol great guys....now i'm even more confused....

52cm? P. Pardalis
Picked this guy up a few months ago, and have always thought of him as a pardalis. I just had it questioned and had another look at the profile and that has 35cmSL. He is 52cmTL. We got the measurements when he was in a foam box as his nose was touching one end with the tips of his tail touching the ...

So still no real id, but that's cool, i'll try again later once they have grown a bit and are fed better.
Thanks.

Hi all, I really suck at id in plecs..... Recently bought these as L015 but looking at the pics on the catelog i'm not thinking they are...although as a said i suck at ids so they well could be. Will get other pics today if needed. From what i was told they are about 4yo, and about 10-11cm TL. And ...

this is one of the other pics off the other thread. I suspected this one was gravid at the time. njassae.jpg syno-4.jpg and this pic was also in the other thread. It's pretty much how the rest of them looked apart from the suspected gravid girls. njassae2.jpg Sorry, one of our friends has the fish ...

Re: Am I Synodontis njassae?
Ok, well this may not work, these are just pics taken of the colony, you can tell they are not the same individual fish, but seem to me to be same species. Either way i'm going to get some more pics over the coming days of them all.
Sorry about all this.

Re: Am I Synodontis njassae?
Further questions would be how old are these fish - what size are they? They look adult & some 6-8" which means they must be quite old - & therefore in australia for quite some time. If this is a hybrid - why has this variety not been seen in the US or UK/Europe which is a bigger market? In ...

Re: Synodontis njassae breeding?
well seeing as this thread has seen the light of day again, I thought I may as well contribute. We never ended up with little ones. I'm not sure what happened there, we tried this "2 flower pots one a top the other (yeh I know, hard to keep upright, prop in corner of tank...)in the bottom one put ...

Re: orange coloured spots on abn fry
Thanks guys, we only have a few left now. Have just started a course of Protozin, so fingers crossed this works. I don't know what else to try, as i'm unsure if its fungal or parasitic, but i am thinking probably parasitic. We have done one treatment for parasitic and had no luck which is why i went ...

orange coloured spots on abn fry
Hey guys, I went out to check on my abn fry earlier, and found about 70 dead abn fry. I hadn't checked on them since yesterday morning, so 36hours (i've been real busy with work and mark usually feeds them). Now, i've got about 20-30 abn fry left. All are less than 2cmTL. And all are covered in ...

Re: bubble belly abn
Well it's time to update you all. As it turned out all of the abn infected with "bubble belly" ended up being from the same batch of fry (the batch that we tumbled). Now, we've had over 30 die, and the other 15 or so that are left are showing the bubble belly. So i don't hold much hope for them ...

Re: bubble belly abn
Thanks guys, it's been really helpful. That link you posted mike has some good advice in it so i'll move the affected ones to another tank and follow the treatment from that thread and see what happens. finally thought I narrowed it down to a developmental problem when the fish were restricted ...

Re: bubble belly abn
Ok thanks anyway. They get the same diet as all our plecs. Algae discs, zuchini, pumpkin and sweet potato. We try and rotate between those 4 as much as possible. The get about once every 2 weeks a piece of lettuce leaf as well. It's just odd, we've never had this prob with any other fish or fry and ...

Re: bubble belly abn
Thanks mats. Yeah i guess something has gone wrong somewhere along the lines there with the ammonia. It is only just reading on the first marker that's how slight it is, but i guess it still means there is some there. Do you have any suggestions on causes of the belly blisters/bubbles? And meds to ...

bubble belly abn
Hiya guys, Here's the history. ABN fry about 1.5 to 2cm TL. Moved to a growout tank with other abn about 3 weeks ago. Just over a week ago, noticed one with a what appears to be a huge blister on his belly. Literally his whole belly is one huge blister with red patches where the blister seems to ...

Re: Synodontis njassae breeding?
Cool, thanks guys.
I'll try and move them today sometime. I'm pretty sure i have another bag or 2 of sand to go in the tanks. So i'll remove the gravel from the other 2 and replace with the sand.
I'll keep you all updated on how we get on.
Thanks.

Re: Synodontis njassae breeding?
cool the water (imitate rainy season) looks like the way to go but i wouldn't do that in a tank housing Tropheus!! you need at least a few tanks more. because there's another issue with succesfully breeding any species apart from lucipinnis or multipuncs: you need to separate the sexes for a while ...

Synodontis njassae breeding?
Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience in breeding these fellas? We have some who are currently in with our tropheus duboisi colony and are doing really great. They were only in there as a short term thing until they could be rehomed. Thing is there is this one (i assume ...
