MATS,
Thank you so much!!!! Ancistrus cf_cirrhosus is the female I have, now I know what to find in a male- anybody have one?
So, these are safe with fry? Good. My otos have started to die of old age, I guess. I will get a few more now.

Are there any scavengers of note that do not predate fry or take advantage of fish that sleep on the bottom.
Must be small enough to live peacefully in 5 and 10G tanks. Shrimp and snails are getting boring. I have on BN and she seems fine. But she is in a juvie grow out tank, no fry.
Thanks

Please verify bottom fish as well. Please tell me what helps you determine what type s/he is. Before deciding, know that what appears white in the photo is actually reddish orange. Based on color alone my GUESS would be a flash. S/he has 11 rays in the dorsal, not including the leading ray. S/he was ...

Re: Unknown Peckoltia
From visual comparison only, I would say its l80. The dorsal fin patter and the last inch of body pattern before the tail is a definate match. Though not as clear as one might want it, the "saddle" pattern below the dorsal most resemble l80 as well. But, Im too new to plecos to even think this could ...

Help! What to do about slime.
Alright, I have a slime problem. Its not going away. I do water changes daily(15-50%, as needed). The slime is a redish rust color. It comes out of my filter in clumps. I've taken the fiter and media out, cleaned and boiled all parts. I took out the slimeist of my driftwood and boiled it and let it ...

PLECOS 101, Please!
Ok, I can tell Pterygoplichthys from other plecos. But after that I have no clue on how to differentiate. I am sure a LOT of us would like to know more. For instance, how to tell hypan from hypo from panaque, etc. Pictures that illustrate details would be of great help. I can look at the catelog and ...

Re: My Rio 125
I made the mistake of removing all the guppies from my display tank. I started to get different types of algae I had never seen before. So I rounded up all the extra males I had in my grow out tanks and put them back in. They were all at work today to solve my algae problem, but I think it will be a ...

Re: Brazil Crack Down?
Thanks for the response. I had a specialty fish store advise that their importer can no longer get fish on the banned list, whereas before Brazil had been letting it slide. So now this LFS no longer has fresh sp. of the banned specimens. I am sure if this were the case, I wouldnt be the only one ...

Ok, I am rapidly adding to my pleco collection. There are so many cool ones out there. Today I was able to obtain 2 L260's. Yesterday I got 2 that I have no clue as to identity. I am attaching pictures. I am guessing they are either young BN or Hypo? Maybe L356? It has 8 dorsal rays. Thanks. http ...

Brazil Crack Down?
HAs anyone had it confirmed officially that today began a thourough crackdown on the ban in Brazil? Have they really banned ALL black and white plecos as well as all brown and white stripes? Does anyone have a current list of what is banned as of today?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Current Banned list?
Is there a site or link as to what species are currently banned for export? I have a "wish list" and still have access to a few fish that were supposedly banned. Before the prices go sky high I want to get a few more. And if in my search I find any on the list I will be happy to tell interested ...

Re: pl*co, Maybe P.Anisitsi?
I appreciate the help. So I now have an L001.
At least knowing what it is, I can now provide for its needs- or at least for a while. Its in my 20G. It does not seem to like community life, and is much happier being an only pleco.
Can anyone tell from the pics if its male or female?
Thanks!!

Re: pl*co, Maybe P.Anisitsi?
I have added more pictures. they are night vision, so they are much more clear, but not in color. The cats pattern is very clear. To me it does not look like a gold spot on snout or belly. It came in at the same time as a batch of L168 and "commons" Thanks. Pics are at same link as above.

Re: pl*co, Maybe P.Anisitsi?
I really would like ideas, I want to give the pleco to someone else if it IS the P. Anisitsi.
If it is a more common pleco, I will keep it.
So please, in the effort of species conservation, would someone please help?
Thanks!!!

It was suggested by a member who read my previous description that pictures were necessary. I will include a link. Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus L022?
Today at LFS I found a 7" pleco, gunmetal gray with cream colored spots. I bought it for $7.99 as a "regular pleco". I asked the employee twice if he was sure this was it? Even asked if he knew the L #. The guy thought I was nuts (But then, he couldnt sex the livebearers I got either). I am rather ...
