Brazil Crack Down?

Post by briggadane »

HAs anyone had it confirmed officially that today began a thourough crackdown on the ban in Brazil? Have they really banned ALL black and white plecos as well as all brown and white stripes? Does anyone have a current list of what is banned as of today?

Thanks.

This is an earlier thread on the subject.

Particularly, Janne, on the second page, in a post on the 9th of April lists what is and isn't allowed.

Thanks for the response. I had a specialty fish store advise that their importer can no longer get fish on the banned list, whereas before Brazil had been letting it slide. So now this LFS no longer has fresh sp. of the banned specimens. I am sure if this were the case, I wouldnt be the only one asking, so maybe it is just isolated to one or two specific exporters?

I had read the list and was using it as a guide to collecting what I am finding locally, in addition to getting the plecos that I like just to have.
