I was wondering if soembody could tell me a bit more about this pleco. I saw some at the LFS and came home to search the web but didn't find much/any info, only pics. It also seems that the common name trinidad pleco goes for a bunch of scientific names. How big does it get? any general info. thanks

As you say, the common name seems to be applied to two species: Hypostomus punctatus and Glyptoperichthys punctatus (although I could only find the name applied to the latter species only in the Cat-eLog), both of which max out at about 30 cm.

Well, the name "common pleco" is applied to the following species: Hypostomus punctatus, Liposarcus pardalis, L. multiradiatus, to name a few.
It's hard to say whether or not the particular Trinidad pleco you are talking about is the same as the common pleco you are thinking about.
This is why we prefer to use scientific names.
