anyone ever kept the sea cats arius felis or bagre marinus?

Post by jamey1976 »

has anyone here kept these? They are way cool, especially the bagre- it looks like a pangasius santiswongi. I've kept dozens of different cats, but as for appearance and behavior, the bagre marinus is the best. It just happens to grow to 2-3 feet. I obtained mine from an estuary in deep south texas, fishing with small cut pieces of shrimp. I obtained arius felis in the same place. The young of both species are quite diurnal. The small arius felis swim in schools near the surface and the shore, they are very easy to collect. In my 55 gallon tank, I soon trained to take food from my hand. These two seem content swimming in midwater and dont need to be near shelters like most other catfish. The arius felis is a close relative of the common shark cat- the one wal mart sells year round, but I've never seen either of the two i've mentioned ever in a pet store. Has anyone here kept or seen these two for sale? Has anyone here ever seen them in the wild?
