Wonderful! Who are they?
I wonder if a 125 gal with six other synos has room for a few ;-)

Youd wonder if your budget has room for a few...at 400 euros a piece (if you find one)

300 a piece will do, thank you.
Still a lot of money, but what fish they are!

Don't know how Euros translate to US dollars right now.
I do think I have seen these guys around here (SF Bay Area, california, USA). They look similar to someone in the tank I found my eupterus in. Is there a similar fish around--the white on the fins and the grey with the spots, maybe six inches as adults? If the ones I saw were the granulosus, I caught a few and tossed them back because I was fishing for the eupterus--also a very fine fish.
Are these river fish as well?

Hi Troy,
US price about 360 dollars I think.
I can't figure out which species you describe, but if it were granulosus you probably don't want to know, do you -))
S. granulosus are endemic Tanganjika Lake cats.
Best regards,
Marc

Hi!
Nice Acquisition...
A few years ago (at least it was the last time I saw them), a shop around here was selling some juvenils (6-7cm) for around 40$ but they were Czech import, so you wonder about the "blood" quality of such fish when coming from that region...
A french shop in the region of PAris currently has some to offer for sale for 350â?¬ which must be around 240$
Cheers

Sorry to say, but yes, pls beware of Czech catfish.
The breeders don't bother crossbreds especially with Synodontis species. Some of them turn also up in Dutch petshops and how tempting it may be, don't buy.

Hi Chris!
Yes I suddenly realised it... lol
By the way for that price they are wild caught import not Czech bred...

Hello. I've recently seen 3 of these for sale at a shop in Chicago. Original price was $240 , but were on sale for $195. I'm a big Syno fan, but thats alittle steep for me. Anyone interested let me know,as they may still have them.(Very good fish store)

I'm saving money too.....
personally I'd like at least 3 (1M 2F) or 4 (2M 2F), but then people should wrap me in wet sheets and put me in a quiet room or something.....
They're really exceptional fish, with a strong personality.
very different from any other Synodontis I know; far more intelligent and boisterous too.

I find my synos to be pretty "present" in relation to other fish. Has anyone done a study on the intelligence of catfish? It is my secret belief that catfish in general are smarter by far than other fish. NOTHING dumber than a fancy goldfish, tho.
