i have a very happy and proud young bristlenose that i am fairly certain is a male.

it needs a new tankmate as it's current one is sick
if the bristlenose that is staying is indeed a male, then i'd like it to be my alpha male so to speak, cos it's such a cool cat.. but he is young..

so, will he be okay hanging and growing up with a larger female? the lfs has larger stock that are sexed

if he turns out to be female later on, i've got plenty of space to bring in a mature male later..

Can't say anything about how apropriate that is, but that't the combo I've got at the moment. I've got what I think is a male (got quite a few bristles), at about 2" (5cm) and what I think is a female (due to lack of bristles) that is about 3" (7.5cm).

They do seem to get along well enough. The female sometimes chases the male away when he gets too close, but as soon as he gets away a bit, she calms down and leaves him at it. They will sit happily next to each other for some time, so they are not too upset with each other, obviously.

But I've only had this combo since this sunday, so I'm sure that others with more experience may want to add to my sentiments.
