You might be able to give me some advise. I have had to seperate my girraffe cats, not because they were fighting but they both wouldnt leave my RTC alone, they just kept on sucking on his body and leaving patches (love bites) all over him. I've taken one out so the RTC has only the one to deal with but it keeps happening.

I am getting a bit worried cos i know of someone who lost a 26" RTC and he said that his girraffe had always done that to all his fish but mainly his RTC.

Please let me know your thoughts. I do want to keep one with the RTC because they play a vital role for my filteration. The only tinng i can think, if the girraffe cat is gonna cause fatel problems to the RTC is to try a Nigar cat, but its finding one the right size.

Also would a terrerpin be able to damage a large RTC if housed together??

Yes, a terrapin would grow, and it would without a doubt bite at least after the finns of your RTC. Fleshwounds would not supprise me either.

How do you house these cats, since you consider adding a turtle?

I am courious: How do giraffe catfish play a vital role for your filtration? Or how could another big cat like Pseudodoras niger be helpfull?

I ment to swap/replace the girraffe cat with a niger, as i had a niger before and he never bothered the RTC.

I have to use bottham disturbers to move all the sand around to stop gases bieng built up within the sand. This also helps moving waste and debry so it doesnt settle in the sand and gets sucked into the filter system.

Anyhow, could a girraffe cat sucking on a RTC possibly harm/kill him. In the story i refered to the RTC was 26" and the girraffe cat 12". I dont know anything about how these fish were kept or weather the girraffe cat was the cause of death of the RTC.

My RTC is 30" and the girraffe in with him is apx 19", my other girraffe is apx 22".

This is very weird....
I have a 10" Giraffecat, and it's very very docile.
in the past me and my cousin tried to combine more of these in a really big tank; but they always turn violent on each other. sometimes within days, other times it takes months.

but I never saw any Giraffecat bother any other catfish; except for my current one kicking Synodontis granulosus a bit around....but that only happens when the granny's bother him (and they do; granulosus are very teaseful cats); it doesn't "suck", but sweeps at them or tries to nudge them with pectoral spines.

Has any boby had problems with girraffe cats? Can they cause damage to bigger fish like a RTC? And should i be getting ready to seperate?
