All~
I have a number of scanned page images that I need to split into three images and format for the cat-elog. They are from the original descriptions of rarely (or never) seen Synodontis species.
I need a volunteer who can...
a) Receive these large files by email
b) turn them to grayscale
c) colour out the background and clean up the images
d) flip them to swim right
e) return 3 images in the format synodontis_speciesx.jpg
One I have already done is
.
It would help me a lot becuase this would take a few hours and I could be doing more techie things with the site during that time, so I thought I would ask.
Any volunteers?

Jools, let me see what I can do....I'm no PhotoShop whiz, but my best friend is, and she owes me a favor or two.

I'll know for sure tonight!

Hi,
Well, thanks all!
I have had several offers of help both here and via PM and quite a few images to process, so I thought I would put them all online and you can all work on them and send them to me as time permits. This isn't a race, it just needs done in the next week or so (and only so I don't forget about it and move onto something else

).
Anyway, all the pictures are posted at
http://www.planetcatfish.com/synos , I would suggest you post here to "stake" which one(s) you are working on and email the resulting images back to me ( webmaster at planetcatfish.com ) .
To clarify one point, the background of the images (you'll probably need to airbrush out bits) doesn't need to be white, but does need to be consistent with whatever shade of light grey is the background colour.
Thanks all, much impressed, this is a useful experiment as well and I look forward to the results.
Cheers,
Jools

Thanks to all who helped, this experiment really worked and saved me an hour or so that was used to input 38 l-numbers!
Thanks to all, if I ever meet any of you, remind me I owe you a beer.

Well, that worked so well, we've got some more! Same place, same plan. I didn't however seem to receive S. annectens, so I have left that in too.
Your handiwork on the previous species is being uploaded tonight.
Thanks all, this is working really well!

Let me give this a try, Jools. I have Photoshop Lite, but I think it does a lot of the same stuff. I design buildings for a living on the computer. Let me see what I can get done today!
