Well, if you want to follow Mo (1991), Chrysichthys brachynema should also be Amarginops brachynema.
But the best way to do this would be to email or pm Jools instead of posting on this forum...

I'm no ichthyologist, but I seem to recall things to the effect that Mo (1991) has not been widely accepted.

Let's see. Mo (1991) diagnoses Amarginops as having a dentigerous metatpterygoid, depressed head, serrated inner and outer margins of the pectoral spine and a well developed cleithral process.
Doesn't sound like very convincing characters to me. We'll see what Rui Diogo has to say about this when his book is out.

Does this mean I need to change my username to Amarginops?

Not unless you have a depressed head, serrated spine, etc. Do you have a picture of yourself you can post on the forum so we can ID it?

No, but I do sometimes have a depressed head.
