I've got 4 4" pictus cats in my 55 gallon, haven't had an ich outbreak in over a year. Saw a few spots on one, and immediately went to my LFS to purchase some aquatronics Quinsulex (quinine sulfat).. which is the BEST ICH med I have ever used when dealing with scaleless fish.
However, they no longer stock it!! So I had to purchase Coppersafe. I have never used it before. I put the recommended doseage in the tank (carbon was left in b/c it was 2 weeks old). Two days later, the 1 pictus who originally had the spots is now spot free but the other 3 are completely covered.
I have since ordered the Quinsulex online and it has just arrived today. I'm not sure if I should "wait it out" with the coppersafe (does this stuff even work?) or should I do a partial water change and treat with the tried and true Quinsulex?
Obviously, all the coppersafe won't be removed with a partial water change and I don't want to stress the fish even more by having too many different meds. Also in the tank is mela-fix to help avoid any secondary bacterial infections... Any advice would be appreciated.
