It looks very much like C. loretoensis but a better picture would help.

There is a black band across the eyes. Adult Corydoras loretoensis don't seem to have this physical feature. Body shape also seems to be different.

Could they be juvenile Corydoras kanei?

A better picture would really help but I suppose it's not an option in this case...

benny,
It has the body shape and large eye which is similar, but as you say the eye mask is wrong for C. loretoensis. What ever it is it looks very much like a juvenile unless the gravel size is confusing the issue. All corys go through considerable colour changes before they reach their full size, Almost all Cory fry show an eye mask for the first few week and with some species it can be two months or more before the mask completely disappears.

What size is the fish?

This is an un-described species that I bred a few years ago that looks very similar to the fish in question. In my book, page 101, I called it C. cf kanei, but according to Steve Grant it is not the same fish that he discribed. the adult size was 35 mm male, 40 mm female.

The fish is about 40-45mm. I 've had it about 7 months now.
It also has far more spots than the pic you posted.

Hope this helps.

I have some that look nearly exactly the same as Nitro's.

They look like some variety of C. atropersonatus to me.
