Hi every one my name is dan i am from Hoenchurch essex in the uk
i have a number of zebra pleco's in my big tank i was would like to set up a tank just for them the tank is a 200L tank hear is a list of stuff i have to set up a new tank what other bits would i need

Eheim aquaball
juwel filter comes with the tank
a carbo plus co2 system
a 400l air pump

i would like to know is it hard to get them to breed in a tank i am going to make lots f caves in the tank with pipe from B&Q or is there any think i should use for there caves?? any help would be nice on this matter

Hi Dan,
Definately wouldn,t bother with the c02 as if your trying to get decent Dissolved oxygen your carbon dioxide will keep leaving your tank.

Go for a high flow rate, it's difficult to over filter a zebra tank. So use both filters. Cave wise, I use old slates, glued together with awuatic silicone. the width is usually about 8cm across, 10cm deep and 2.5 cm high, (this is about 1/3 higher than the fish itself, and allows the male to extend his doral fin up, locking himself in. Make sure these is a good number of caves, at least one for each fish. Use random stones to make some more natural ones as well.

As for substrate, personally I prefer sand, although all of my young are kept in glass bottomed tanks for ease of cleaning.

pH is about 6, and the temp ranges from 80 - 86, depending on whether or not they are breeding.

thanks i have a flow rate of about 1500L p/h on the tank now and they love it the juwel filter is 600L p/h ext eheim is 600L p/h eheim aquaball is 200L p/h
the tank is 200L juwel tank i was thinking of using bamboo for caves in there tank i have made caves out of slate floor tiles 10cmx10cm's i was thinking of making about 20 bamboo caves in the corner of the tank???

thanks for you help on the matter is there any other kind of stuff i could do with them i have had them in my community tank for about 2 years now i have set up there own tank for them i have 9 fish now

what should i be feeding them on i feed my ones on blood worm in jelly from tetra and prima i also pop catfish food in there

bloodworms good, but not all the time. 2 / 3 times a week, and chuck in a slice of corgette, every now and again. Tetra Prima is a good allrounder. sinks to the bottom, and is easily digested.

I've heard of people feeding them crushed peas, but I can never get the little buggers to sink!
