it seems to me that some of this fishes have clearly "orange" eyes and others seems to have more dark eyes, someone know if this difference is that one of them are the described P.leopardus and the otherone is L-114 (P. cf. leopardus)?

Hi!
The difference is that the L114 comes from the Rio Xingu, Brasil while the P.leopardus comes from Guyana.

i know that one is from Guyana (Rupununi river?) and the other is from brazil (Rio negro?)
but i was wondering if the eye color was one way to see the difference.

Hi!
A while back Ingo Seidel wrote an article about the differences between the 2...
It was in DATZ, ~2001-2002...
I ll check if I can find it at home...
Cheers

Hi!
I forgot to add that its highly unlikely that any fish you see is from Rupununi...i havent seen any fish from there in Germany or even heard that someone owns one that was in a regular import.

Hi
It appears that another differentiating factor between the two would be based on the black spotted blotches found in the caudal fins.
In the case of P. leopardus the spots extend backwards from the caudal penucle towards the base of the caudal fins. Whereas for the L114 such spots actually extend from the base of the caudal fins towards the body.
Regards,
Hermit.

It isn't really known but a fish export buisness has taken place from Guyana... of course they haven't the volume that any exportors in Brazil has but it is starting gently...
