Howdy.
Plan on coming to
the convention? If you like catfish, you'll meet a lot of like-minded people there.

I'm not a member of the club hosting the convention, just an attendee.
More info about the convention can be found
here.

Silurus is being a bit modest... He's not just an attendee of the convention, he's a featured speaker and will be offering two talks on Asian catfishes. A number of other folks from PlanetCatfish will be there as well, including Ian Fuller speaking on Corydoras, Shane Linder on collecting South American catfishes and Ingo Seidel on Loricariids. Jools (the PC webmaster) will also be in attendance as well as numerous other folks you will meet in the forums here.
At any rate, the host club is the Potomac Valley Aquarium Society (PVAS) which serves aquarium hobbyists in the Washington, DC area. Like many similar aquarium clubs, we have monthly meetings where the membership gets together to chat about fish, exchange the fruits of their fishrooms and have informative programs about various aspects of the hobby. We have an annual event, this time the catfish convention, where speakers, fish shows, auctions, and more are featured, as well as a couple of other all-day auctions throughout the year. Our web site is
http://www.pvas.com if you would like more information.
For those of you reading this who are not in PVAS' area, I strongly encourage you to find a local aquarium society in which to get involved if you haven't already. There are too many to mention here but I and other forum participants would be more than happy to help you find one in your area if you would like.

Wow thats great, congrats on being a speaker! Im definatly interested in seeing what your club is all about. Too bad i missed this meeting of this month. I would've definatly gone. Is there just one meeting a month or have there been more then one?

Just one meeting a month, but if you can't get enough of the club scene, there's a bunch more. Check the links page on the pvas web page. In particular, the Capital Cichlid Association meets this coming Saturday in the Wheaton/Glenmont area.
See you soon...
