L005 or 007?
Or neither? I have inspected for the typical tooth but can't see one. I don't think he's an L007 - tho its been suggested - he was marked L005 at the store.
He's not as yellow as the pic makes him appear...that's the driftwood in my 125 gallon tank making it look more yellow than he was at the store...
here goes:
how is one to make the determination between different black/white spotted plecos? LOL

Wow! Thanks...
Well, everybody seems to agree! L201, then. After reviewing the pics, I'd have to agree based on physical appearances. I'll try to get a better pic, too.
Is it true that the 007 does not have transparent dorsal and caudal fins? Somebody told me that wa a sure-fire way of ruling out L007...just wondering how true or not that is?

The males have yellow spots? Hmmmm. My males don't. They have a slightly more robust coloration...and have some of the longest interopercular odontodes* of any Hypancistrus I've kept, but the spots are white. Yellow would be cool. I'd like to see that.

*Frisckey 1, that's what I thought I saw in the pic that made me think male.
