1 after a person has posted a topic and it has reached 1 month with no new replys.
send a mesage to the person who posted the topic and ask if he or she wants it deleted from the forum .
this saves space - space means speed on most computers
2 you might be able to place a link to any new topic with the same key points or question asked and it pops up with previous responces helping that person staight away with old data but the question is still asked
3 a data base link for people in your area /state giving you closer links to the people around you

Hi WALL,

OK, here goes...

1. The catfish for sale forum is pruned for old entries. The others are not becuase we might lose something important. The forum is about 40 meg in size, it's sitting in 2000 meg of space and its size has no affect on client access performance.

2.If forum software could do that, we'd all go home! Seriously though, it's just not possible to do this sort of thing accurately. Find me another site that does it and I'll put it in here, but even the most advanced contextual search engines (like googles ad placement robot) can't do this kind of thing reliably (yet).

3.That is possible. It appears a constant struggle however to get folks to tell us where they are. Nice to see you have. We could probably produce a list of forum users grouped by location I guess.

I think a voluntary location sheet would be a good idea, maybe as a mail bot? People would be able to contact each other more easily on terms of trading fish plants etc or posting notices of availability or sales at the LFS. It's hard to get a good gauge if who's in the 'hood by looking at posts because not everyone posts all the time. Just my 2 cents . . .

I can't take this further at the moment, but maybe phpbb3 will have this kind of thing in it as I know some other forum software have similar stuff.
