With water changes done at least once a week, a proper sized aquarium (royal plecos get 10"+), proper diet and water chemistry, it should take about 6-8 years to get most of their growth in size. Even afterwards the fish will do more growing. Expect to have the fish for 20+ years as well. Most fish grow throughout their lives. I cannot believe some of these fish will be with me when I will most likely have problems lifting the tanks they are housed in!

its not a problem to me that he will live 20 years ! lol

So, its not a problem if his growing was not really fast in the first months because I think I were not feeding it really good.

if he grows all his life...?

I read in the baensch that he lives in rapid stream...so is it better to put it in a 33 gallons that I place a powerheard 4 and a internal fluval for some time ?

now he is in a 54 gallons
