thanks Yann for your quick reply on my question about the Gold Nugget spots.

I can´t find enough information about LDA33 (Snow Ball Pleco) and another one
called Baryancistrus sp. Niveatus L142 (also called Black with White Kaiser) to
find out if these fishes are the same species or not.
I bought some L142 half a year ago so I know pretty good how they look. I have
3 with larger spots and two with smaller spots (but still quite large). The small spotted
ones are somewhat slender and definitely more aggressive so I believe that at least
one of them is a male.´He´is defending a part of the aquarium quite intensively.

Does anyone know if these fishes, LDA33 and L142, are the same species or not
I have heard that the LDA33 will be more intensily black with larger spots than L142.
Since my L142´s are definitely very black and having spots with different sizes, I
wonder if this is true. From the pictures I´ve seen on the Internet and from the fish
stores selling LDA33 I can not see any difference at all from the L142´s I have.

A very good question, Anders. I would be very interested to get some sort of an answer to that. I have two LDA 33's, too.

Both LDA 33 and L 142 seem to come from Rio Tapajos and belong to genus Baryancistrus. Information that I have got from scattered sources on the web maintains that LDA 33 comes from Para region (Did I get it right?) and grows at least up to 15 cm and L 142 grows at least up to 25 cm

A parallel to the gold nugget case: own L (and LDA) numbers for juvenile and adult forms? Though, they look quite the same to me... Do they look the same to somebody with educated eyes for catfish? Btw, there are many plecos with white spots on black that look the same to me but just aren't...
