Picked up this pleco today, bit of a mystery to me though. Is it a King Tiger, Queen Arabesque or some combination of both? it is spotted and striped, and looks unlike either my King Tiger or Queen Arabesque.....

Looks more like a King Tiger and less like a Queen Arabesque.

Thanks Silurus, do King Tigers often have so many spots?

No, but as I recall, QAs tend to have thinner stripes.

Looking at the Cat-elog I see that now. I guess there are many variations of any L number, whatever it is its unlike any other plec I own. Thanks for your help :D

:D I own both, and King Tigers tend to be thinner and longer the Queen arabesque is shorter and wider. I have six of each and patterns can vary but body shapes do not. Good Luck. :D :D

I've picked up a few of these as well, listed at LFS as King Tigers. However, the stripes are thinner and more numerous than my other L-66, yet thicker than L-260. In a tank with L-66, these three hide in tubes all day, while the known L-66 tend to find cover amongst the wood and rocks. Sexes are mixed in each group, so I don't think behavior is gender related.

Fish were imported from SA, so I doubt that it is some tank cross breed. Finally, they have spawned amongst themselves, but not with the original L-66. Any other suggestions on ID? Since the spawn, I have segregated the group. But I am still curious about better ID. Thanks.
