I live in North Texas(dallas) and I believe that I caught a madtom in a large minnow trap. Does any one know the type of madtom that is common to my area or the types that can be found. He is doing well in a 55 gal tank in my house with a single sunfish. Aswell, what text do you guys suggest to learn about captive care of North American catfish?

Thanx, Sean

Either a tadpole madtom (), or a freckled madtom (Noturus nocturnus), as these are the only two species you are likely to encounter.

The best book, I think, for maintaining North American freshwater fish is American Aquarium Fishes by Goldstein et al.
