Next time use a basketball as bait for catfish!

Maybe some of you have seen this before. My aunt from Texas sent me a forward this morning of a newspaper article that had been in The Sunday Wichita (Kansas) Eagle newspaper. Apparently a couple of people had seen a basketball floating in a small pond in a weird manner. They went to investigate it and found a large catfish that had tried to eat the basketball! It couldn't swim downward because the ball would keep floating it back up. The people ended up having to cut the ball to deflate it and then the fish swam away. (What kind of fish is it?)

Why is it spelled Pylodictus in the Cat-eLog? It should be Pylodictis.

This made it into the tabloids here but it was said to have occurred "in the sea off Los Angeles" and involved a soccer ball.
