Will 2 cetopsis catfishes in a 125 liter tank do fine?

I heard that they are rather aggressive fin-nippers.

that would depend entirely on species.
the bigger ones are true terrors, nipping and biting anything remotely fishlike and hands also.
creepy buggers!
we had a 'golden' looking one years ago, and it was one of the very few cats I was wary of......
it would strike out of nowhere with lightning speed and nip skin!
the smaller ones are reputed to be utterly peaceful.....

The catfishes I am refering to are cetopsis coecutiens. Will the 2 cetopsis catfishes live their entire lives in optimal condition given the tank size stated?

Of course not. They grow up to 30cm in length. They swim almost all the time. With that in mind dont you think that 125 lit. is a bit small? The ones we keep are always on the move. We have never seen them harming another fish intentionally. But when feeding they are quite violent. Accidents can happen.
Why not keep them in something a bit bigger? Ours are not fully grown so it is hard to tell if they will be tolerant of each other but the certainly seem to do fine with each other at the moment...

If so, what would be the optimal tank size for the 2 catfishes if the tank is to be suitable for their entire lives?

ugh!
that's the one.....the fin-nipping, fingerbiting, eyeballgauging terror.
you cannot keep it with anything else OR with each other in the long run.....
it's one evil mofo nasty bit of fish as I've ever seen. even worse than Bagrichthys, and I definitely don't like those.
these are the ones that go after hooked fish and voracious rip themselves into the stomach of a living big fish....
if there's a devil somewhere, this one fish is his private guppy!
sure you want to keep it?
