blue fin plec.

Post by funkybozu »

i have finally found a bluefin plec. i read about one a while ago in a fish mag. but had never before
seen one, any they are really very beautiful, with they re long black body and dark blue fins,
my question is ,how much do you think is resonable for one? here they want 10000yen, maybe less than a hundred bucks, is it cheap or expensive... knowing that here thats about the price for a nice imperial zeb.
oh and how big do they get? i was told 50cms isnt that a bit exagerated?

Hi,

the bluefin pleco is lables in DATZ as L239.

You may find here some interesting threads on this beautiful fellow: e.g.

and some others

We believe, it growes only to a size of about 15cm. The larger size may probably due to a wrong picture showed in the old aqualog book.

Prices seem to vary. Here in europe a 8 to 10cm large specimen is about 50,-Euro / 50,- $.
Privces in Asia are somewhat higher, so Europe isn't so good to compare.
best regards
