Only the dorsal fin is larger than C. Paleatus?

I am confused with these 2 cories.

Thanks in advance.

Besides the difference in fin size, C. macropterus has a longer snout than C. paleatus.

C. macropterus has mottled pattern and extremely long pectoral fins on the male.

To be honest there should not be any confusion between these two species , see pictures below.

Corydoras paleatus

Scleromystax macropterus

The body of S. macropterus is more slender, it has relatively small eyes, the body colour pattern is brown and the males have cheek bristles and greatly extended pectoral fin spines.

You will also note that macropterus is now in Scleromystax and not Corydoras.

Thanks for Corybreed and Coryman.

I feel Macropterus is more like A Genus.:)

Marshel,
Some get confused with these two cories because their chinese common name sound similar,
especially C.paleatus high fin(Breed) and Scleromystax macropterus.
