Please, Please, Please tell me cory eggs look like brown goo with bubbles on it!!!
I've been waiting for coy babies for months after I first in love with my 3-beautiful but unfortunatley all female bulldozers. I've since collected a few males (to the fems delight

and I just today noticed a patch of goop on a thermometer in my tank.
We've had a few days of high heat & humidity here - followed by a cooler day today (all the fish have been going nuts!!

), so perfect cory time! The only other thing int he tank are some guppies, so it's either an odly coloured patch of algea - or it's time to break out the cigars!! (or at least candy sticks

.
Any egg photos? Sorry I can't get one of the thermometer but my digitals gone for a walk again...
Thanks!
Nes.

Sounds more like algae to me. At least cory eggs shouldn't have bubbles on it.
Here is a thread with a picture of cory eggs.

Hi - I was just going to make a post along the same lines, and found a partial answer at at least. I did a water change yesterday and lo and behold, there in the turbulence of the Aquaclear Mini outflow, on some waving java fern are two little eggs, I suspect the platys had had a go already when I saw them this morning. I snipped off the bit of fern and put it in a breeding trap, it's still getting pretty good oxygenation I think considering where they were. If they are indeed eggs they would be from my two new (a pair I guess) c. paleatus. I have a problem with high nitrite in this tank source unknown, ammonia is zero or near enough. There was a large ramshorn snail population but I have just manually killed them all, they were just out of control and I was thinking this might be the source of my waste problem. The fish population is also high but regardless . . . How long might it be before the eggs hatch, and does anyone have any specific experience on the results of this high nitrite issue. TIA and why aren't I outside it's so nice
Edited post 20:01 - just finished cleaning the big tank, and lo and behold two (at least) more red & blue Columbian tetras H. colubianus, little guys are about 1 cm hehe

Silvernes,
The patch of goop you mentioned...sounds more like snail eggs. Do you have any snails in that tank?

Metallhd,
If it was your paleatus cories that spawned...then the platys and other tank mates did have a feast. Even a single pair of paleatus, are capable of huge spawns. Try and get them another tank. A 5 gallon would be plenty for a single pair. If you want more fry...you'll be greatly rewarded by the Paleatus!
Best of luck!

Nope - no snails in the tank. It's turned up on a couple of my heaters now I think it's just a brown algea. Awful hard to get off though - tried soaking hotwater & vinegar today - hardley even a dent in it
