While catching up on the literature after my field trip, I came across this "paper" that shows that scientists have a sense of humor after all:

Milinkovitch, MC, A Caccone & G Amato, 2004. Molecular phylogenetic analyses indicate extensive morphological convergence between the "yeti" and primates. Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 31: 1-3.

It was published in April (get the connection?), and a pdf is available for interested parties.

I would definitely be interested in reading a paper like that.

I thought Parambassis pulchinella was proof of humor enough, seeing as how pulchinella means beautiful girl.

Parambassis pulcinella was named after Pulcinella (English: Punchinello, more familiar to most as Punch of Punch & Judy fame), a humpback character of the commedia dell'arte.

Really? That's even weirder than calling it a beautiful girl.

I should be very interested to read that paper. LOL.

I'd be most interested in seeing the specimen(s) they based the study on
