This ancistrus was identifid as an ancistrus bristlenose pl*co or Ancistrus triradiatus. But I am not sure about the gender. Who can tell me: male or female?

Hi Ivar!
To me its looks like a young about to mature male! You can see the bristles starting to grow and in the common bristlenose the females are bristleless as far as Im concerned. In the coming time it should all be more clear as the bristles should grow big as beatifull, otherwise you know why...

If it is small (less than 2 inches, and it appears to be) then it is a male. If it large, like 3-4 inches, and only has those few bristles, then it is a female.

I'd like to see a full body shot of the fish and know the size of it, but with no bristles showing up its nose whatsoever, I'd say it's a female. I have quite a few types of ancistrus that have females with bristles just like that. Get us the pictures and more information about the size and we can settle it for sure ;)

On this picture, some of you have seen it before, you can see the size. It's about 10 cm or 3-4 inches.
