Hey all
I brought a common ple*o from the LFS the other day which had a gun metal grey color all over him/her.
I recently started feeding a selection pumpkin and the next morning realized that he/she had completety change from gun metal grey to a dark tan colour.
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON

Most likely carotenoid pigments in the pumpkin are colouring the fish. It's nothing to worry about, because similar pigments are present in algae in the wild.

most pleco's have a number of color patterns the size of the fish color changes with age / stress is one reason / substrate and furniture is another and the night time pattern
