I have 6 L-046 (I think 2 males and 4 females)

Soo I wonder how many caves is best too have for them. Is it best too only have caves for the males, soo that the females have too try too get in too the males caves?

Or is it best too have many caves, soo they can change as they want too?

I`m setting up a new 160 liter for my zebras now. Ther they can be alone, and do the tings I hope they gonna do :D

And if anyone has ideas how too set up an zebra tank i would be very greatfull for pics

If soo you can post it here, ore send mail too erfred@online.no

Hejsan discusion,

There are pictures of my setup if you scroll down.
The tank is 30gal ~ 120 liters and I have 6 zebras in it.

I personally think that offering about one cave per male would cut down on any disputes and it seems that the cave closest to the powerheads is the prime spot.

If you look in Shane's World there are a number of articles about breeding different plecos with pictures of peoples setups and caves.

How many are you housing in the tank?

Thanks for the reply INXS :D

Nice tank setup you have there.

I have 6 zebras in my setup. But I`m moving them this week too another tank. The plan is too have them in a 166 liters tank (55x55x55cm) And I`m planing how too have the setup. I have 12 caves now, but I`m wondering if it is bether too have as you only caves for the males.

I haven't kept Zebras in years, but this applies to all Ancistrine plecos.

It would be a good idea to have a surplus of caves with as many as possible near sources of current. That way, any disputes between rival males would amount to more fanning and flaring rather than a significant drawn out battle. The less they have to fight over, the more subdued the disputes will be.

I usually try to have twice the number caves than fish (males and females), at least at first. Once the fish make their preferences known, you can usually remove a few that go unused but always keep a few unoccupied cave available.

I for one would hate to loose a $60 fish over a the lack of a $3 cave.
