I just found out that my L 264 has a max size of only 10cm. Is this true?

Thanks
Angel

Naw, you have lots of growth left from this one. I saw one that must have been close to 20cm in a pet store in Halifax Nova Scotia (Canada), though I wouldn't think normally it would go much over 15cm. I would persoanlly love to pick one of these guys up, but can't find any around here. I'll be taking a trip towards Halifax next month, hopefully then I'll find some goodies :)

We have sold L264 cats around 6inches in size but they are usually smaller. Bigger specimens may actually be Pseudoacanthicus Spinossus. They are easy to mistake at a glance. A lovely cat all the same

Bear in mind all sizes on Planet are SL unless stated otherwise. 6" = 15cm, which if you take off the tail could be ~ 10cm SL! I seem to remeber they spawn at between 15-17cm, but I couldn't tell you if this is SL or TL.

Hi,
between 15-17cm, but I couldn't tell you if this is SL or TL.
Sprenger and Seidel don't tell in their breeding article explicitly if it is SL or TL, so i guess its TL. According to them Leporacanthicus joselimaianus grows like L. heterodon to a total length of about 20cm.

what does SL and TL mean?

  • SL (Standard Length) refers to the distance from the tip of the snout to the base of the caudal fin (tail).
  • FL (Fork Length) refers to the distance between the tip of the snout and the fork in the tail.
  • TL (Total Length) is the total length of the fish, from snout to the tip of the tail.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
but normally You don´t count caudal filaments to the TL. (e.g. Loricaria simillima, ...)
