How often do I have to feed veggies???

Hi...I have a clown pleco in a 10G tank, and really don't feed him veggies much. Up till now I really didn't think it was too important. It's not fully grown yet (about 2.5 inches), and mainly he sucks algae and eats some driftwood when not hiding. A few weeks ago I tried some lettuce stem, but he didn't seem interested and pushed it out from his cave. I did try cucumber once, but he didn't really go for that either.

I'm willing to try again, but I can't figure out how I'm going to keep the veggies rooted to the gravel because sometimes the other fish (4 platies) will knock around the other food I try to give him (shrimp pellets, algae wafers). He isn't bold enough to try to hold his own and eat either of these, so I need new ideas. How often and also how exactly should I give him veggies? I normally microwave some water about a minute, then soak the treat in it for a few seconds. Is this right?

Any comments appreciated,

Sir_C

For cucumber and courgette/zucchini you can cut off a chunk, slice it down the middle, and weigh the pieces down by sticking stainless steel forks into them.

For leafy vegetables you can get special plastic clips which stick to the wall of the tank.

At first try leaving it overnight when the pleco will likely be out foraging.
