Hello, all. Through a little observation at key periods of the day I have discovered a strong population of what I believe to be common pl*cos in the Hillsborough River a little ways from my apartment. These are big fella's, like 12-15". I haven't gotten the cast net out to get a close look at one yet, but plan on it a little more towards summer. I have no way to house such a large fish so it will only be a catch, identify and release adventure. No doubt these guys were released in the wild by aquarists that underestimated their pl*c's growth potential. Unfortunately for native species, we have a lot of that here in Florida. Heck, we've got a fishable population of wild oscars in the Everglades (as well as a plethora of other cichlids), a mobile army of walking catfish and clown knife fish to a few feet in length. :!:

There are a lot of pl*cos in the waterways in Florida as well, primarily in the florida canal system.

I would jumpstart the BarBQ and get that net out...
big Pleco's taste really good, and by hypeing that Pleco's are good chow, you're actually saving Florida, in a way.

as soon as it's bon-ton to eat Pleco's and making money off them by catching them for BarBQ-parties, the rampage is gone, I think!

Bon Appetite!
