I'd actually have to say it looks more like C. adolfoi, but I am not sure exactly what species it is. That dark blotch behind the pectorals is really throwing off my identification. :? :)

I recenly saw some Corys at a LFS that were labeled C. adolfoi with that same spot. That spot threw me off as well.

Sp means new species which i'm pretty sure this is a C adolfoi sp. or Unidentified species. Anyhows i've seen these pictures before on here i'm sure. Check out older posts.

I got these in as Adolfoi, but these are clearly Burgessi.

There was an earlier post on these fish, I believe it was back in early December.

If I remember correctly Ian eventually plumped for Corydoras cf Burgessi due to the body shape.

We have recently had an import of these fish from Brazil labelled to us as "Corydoras Adolphoi black top ".

We have no more info but to say that all 75 look to be all the same, no contaminants of adolphoi or burgessi amongst them.

I think there's a C number assigned to this species - C121

Some called them Corydoras sp. cf adolfoi, but other called them Corydoras sp. cf burgessi. The latter may be more appropriate if you consider the body shape.

By the way, there's also a similar species with long nose, like Corydoras imitator, but with the patch behind the gills and the marked dosal fins.

Cheers,

Many Corys are seasonal. Ask your lfs to order them for you when they are available. They seem to come in regularly, but only at certain times of the year. You could also check if anyone in your area is breeding them.
