Is waterlife sterazin safe to use to treat my queen arabesques

Has anyone ever used it and did it cure the problem i am a bit wary about using it.

Yes sterazin can be used with catfish species. However what exactly are you treating for?

I am treating what appear to be anchor worms or some other worm which is attached to various areas of the fishes body.

Then i believe you want Parazin P rather than sterazin. as this disease is considered a pond disease then it's a pond disease medication you will most likely need to use.

If you can post a picture of the problem, as ancor worm are very easy to spot.

However if sterazin does work post reply back.

I treated the whole 50 gal tank with the standard dose of 1 capful on wednesday and again yesterday.Already most of the worms or whatever they are, as i am not 100% sure, seem to have fallen off but there are still 2 just below the dorsal.There is no noticeable flicking off decor as before and all tank occupants appear ok.Thankfully the sterazin hasn't had any adverse effect on the filter bacteria as waterlife state it doesn't,and water quality is ok. There are still 3 more doses to complete the 5 day course which i shall do. I don't know what the little buggers are but they are about 3mm in length and red in colour but sterazin seems to be ridding them.

Sorry, unable to post pics but i wish i could then maybe someone could identify them.I've searched the web to find pics which resemble them but to no avail. Will continue treatment and hope they are all erradicated and do not return.

I have not been feeding live foods,just the regular pleco fare and frozen bloodworm and prawn.I've had the L260 since january so is it possible they were brought in on the fishes or would i have noticed them sooner.

Just letting you know sterazin did the trick.All fishes fit and well.
I still don't know what the parasite was though.

is praziquantel legit for plecos?

Some catfish are sensitive to praziquantel so i would play safe and use sterazin or parazin depending on what you are treating.

Since you'll likely have a bottle readily at hand, you don't happen to know what the active ingredients of sterazin or parazin are do you?

Most of the commerial fluke treatments I've seen in the U.S. have been either Organo-phosphate pesticides or copper salts (not good for plants). Not the nicest things to be adding to your tanks. My understanding is that they work (Cu salts particularly), but outright it's not something I would prefer to use.

I was wondering, since they outlawed the sale of 37% formalin here in the states, what my treatment options are?

No mention of ingredients on the bottle (maybe waterlife keep it secret ) but according to shanesworld on this site he believes sterazin to contain malachite green and formalin. i don't know the ingredients of Parazin/Paragon but someone here may do.

waterlife will not tell anyone whats in their chemicals, However they will tell me whats not so i can tell you there are no Copper salts or Organophosphates in Sterazin.

I did a little homework on the subject recently.

The active ingredient is likely Fenbendazole, commonly sold as Panacur in the U.S. This drug is widely used as a dewormer in veterenary practice. Plant list guys have been using it to even kill Hydra!

I have used it in the past (with a Vets. prescription) to de-worm a Blue-Tongued Skink Tiliqua spp. of Acantocephalans (Thorny headed worms) and to rid my dog of whipworms.

Pretty broad action stuff. Anyone have any further information on the compound? I'll keep doing some more searches and keep you posted.

Well, this statement (from a Russian Tortoise site) is more than a bit troubling.

No sterazin does not contain Fenbendazole either.
