i was wondering about salt in the tank. I have a lima shovelnose, pseudoplatystoma tigrinum, cigar shark, a breed of the pictus, a pleco and a columbian shark

i know that columbians need brackish water, what i was wondering is will the salt kill the other fish or do i need to get another tank for the columbian

You'd better get another tank for the colombian.

Silurus,

Does this mean that adding enough aquarium salt for prevention of diseases is bad with catfish? I've done this over 2 years and have not had too much problem with the cats.

Short-term exposure to salt as in disease treatment is OK. However, the colombian sharks need almost constant exposure to salt, which is not OK with most other catfishes.

thanks, was getting ready to build a couple of tanks, so will plan on one for the columbian

also do you have any info on the pseudoplatystoma tigrinum that does not have the pseudo fasciatum in the description

in the cat e log it has pictures of both in the description
