My evil terrapin Bob just latched on to my finger and had to be shaken off
I was trying to be nice to it, handfeeding it terrapin sticks, when the little bugger missed the stick and bit my index finger. To be fair to him he was being distracted by a shoal of Nimbochromis venustus, all trying to leap out of the water to be the first one to the food. My natural response was to lift my finger out of the tank. Out came the finger, out came the terrapin holding on with its jaws. Then it applied it's front paws and a bit of shaking to try to bite off a chunk. Fortunately after a couple of shakes it fell off and dropped back into the water.
He's getting to the size now where, one of these days, he's going to draw blood if I'm not more careful.
BTW, I know I've asked a few times already on planet catfish, but does anyone in the UK want a medium-sized, half-hardy terrapin? (I don't think it will survive UK winters outdoors) The little sh!t was dumped on me about 8 months ago and I still haven't found anyone who wants it. Killing it or giving it to a bad home are not options here, so I'm stuck with it for the time being. It seems to love living in my 6x2x2 malawi tank and has made its peace with all the fish in there, so it will be a shame to see it go. But go it must. Do you want a cool reptilian friend? Can you house it properly? If so, PM me. UK only.
